SAS Site License Information for Windows and Macintosh

Version 9.1.3 of the SAS System is available to the academic community of Columbia University through Information Commons (IC) for Windows XP and 2000
only. Version 6.12 is available for Macintosh systems running OS version 9; there is currently not a version available for Macintosh OS X systems, please check this
web site in the future for updates. Versions 8.2 and 8.1 for Sun/Solaris and Version 8.2 for Linux are also available.
Here is a list of the hardware/software requirements
for different versions of SAS on different operating systems.
IC provides this license as a service to the Columbia community. Please refer to the document
General Policies regarding software licensing at Columbia.
Cost, Payment, and Dates
The cost of the SAS license to faculty and staff is as follows:
PLEASE NOTE: that all new licensees and those choosing to upgrade to a newer version of SAS will
be required to purchase at least one installation kit for $75.00. This cost is in addition to the cost of the license(s). For example, the
total cost of one license is $255.00 ($180 + $75) for faculty and staff, and $195.00 ($120 + $75) for students. The installation kit includes
all necessary CDs and full installation instructions. Information Commons only carries installation kits for the most recent versions of SAS.

- The cost is $120 for students who are using SAS for their own research. University funds may not be used for this discount.
- Students may pay by cash, credit card or check made out to "Columbia University". All other payments must be made from a Columbia University FAS
account.
- The current dates of the license are 9/1/05 through 8/31/06. The price is fixed and will not be pro-rated. The software will not run after the
license expires.
Licensing Procedure
IC provides this license as a service to the Columbia community. We will answer questions about the installation and use of SAS itself, but the licensee
is responsible for doing the installation and for understanding and maintaining his/her own hardware and operating system.
How to License SAS
- Complete the SAS Site License Agreement Web form:
SAS Site License for Windows or Macintosh
SAS Site License for Sun/Solaris or Linux
Students please note additional agreement conditions listed on the Site License Agreement form.
- Once submitted:
If purchasing a license renewal by FAS account only, everything can be completed online. After submitting the form you can
follow the instructions to accept and download the license online, no further action is required.
Otherwise please complete the following steps:
- Please allow 24 hours for your request to be processed by the IC staff.
- Prepare payment. Faculty and staff must pay using a Columbia University FAS account. Students with a valid ID card may
pay by cash, check or credit card. Everyone must agree to install SAS on only those machines for which you have paid. This is subject to auditing by
SAS institute. Payment information must accompany the licensing agreeement.
- Come in the following business day after submitting your request to pick up your license and any software ordered.
Licensee signature and a
valid Columbia University ID card will be required to pick up
software
